Heft
Scots, One’s situation or environment
Heft, a lockdown passion project by friend Lawrence Smeaton.
“I needed something to do during lockdown so I started brewing. I brew in 10-pint batches, so it's a slow process. It can take 5-6 hours on the stove to brew that amount and then a month of fermentation before it's ready to be bottled, aged and drunk. Each micro-batch is different. I brew to the environmental conditions and I don't treat my water in order to simulate water profiles from famous brewing places, I just draw it straight from the tap. I'm trying not to overcomplicate things. Meet Heft, the product of my lockdown environment.”
We created a full brand identity for this client, focusing on the name, logo, brand colours and typography. We drew colour palette inspiration from the founder's favourite vintage cycling top and design inspiration from the lay of the land around their hometown, Paisley, where the beer is brewed, bottled and drunk. A Covid-19 lockdown project, Heft really was the product of one’s situation and environment.
We can’t wait to try the next batch.
